Politicians are drawing massive crowds
With empty promises and talking loud.
Grand ideas of uplifting the economy,
But actually promote modernized slavery.
Minorities are always rejected and neglected
Until votes are needed to be elected.
Although there has been great progress,
Still millions are severely oppressed
Captured in a system of hard knocks
Behind steel doors with electronic locks.
A place where kind words aren’t spoken,
Lives are shattered, spirits are broken.
Stigmatized as misfits to society,
Enclosed by walls of the prison industry.
After years of protesting and bloody fights,
Arguing for equality and civil rights,
Along with the elimination of discrimination,
We remain victims of exploitation.
In a land of so-called democracy,
Bigotry has gained popularity.
Exposing and amplifying the critical situation
Of race relations in this diverse nation.
Politicians are forcing families into poverty,
Constantly slashing funds in poor communities.
Students receive mediocre education,
Now schools are closing across the nation.
Killer cops are protected with impunity,
While fatalities are happening consistently.
So, when it pertains to government,
I’m overwhelmed with disappointment.
For me, there’s no extravagant expectations
In the upcoming presidential nominations.
