Biography
Charley Hughes, better known as Sheik Bilal Abdul Salaam-Bey, is currently located at Hutchinson Correctional Facility. He has published several commentaries regarding the Free Kansas Movement, an organization that seeks to dismantle the prison-industrial complex and implement several policies promoting the welfare of Black people in the state of Kansas. In addition, Bilal has undertaken several academic pursuits. He is the newsletter editor of Conscious Outlook and received a college certificate in Leadership and Management from Southern Utah University. For the past two years, Bilal has been enrolled in Hustle 2.0, a rehabilitation program that was started by prisoners in Pelican Bay SHU program for prisoners. He is set to be released on parole August 25, 2025!
